Stresa

Accommodation

We recommend that most of our guests stay in Stresa, which is only about 10 minutes away from the wedding venue - either by taxi-boat or by car. Stresa offers a great mix of charming mid-budget hotels, more upscale “splurge” options, as well as Airbnbs.

Please reach out to use should you wish to book at Hotel La Palma or Grand Hotel. We have negotiated special rates for you!

🏨 High-end & Boutique Hotels

- Boutique Hotel Stresa — a brand-new luxury hotel in a historic villa, with elegant rooms and suites, private spa options, and a beautiful rooftop terrace overlooking the lake. It’s perfect for guests looking for comfort, style and a bit of indulgence.

- Grand Hotel des Iles Borromées & SPA — a classic 5-star hotel on the shores of the lake, offering full-service spa and a high level of comfort and luxury (negotiated rate for the wedding)

- Hotel La Palma — a highly-rated hotel with good amenities, well located by the lake. Many of you may find this a convenient “mid-luxury” compromise if you prefer comfort without going full 5-star. (negotiated rate for the wedding)

Note: Some of our wedding events will be held at Hotel la Palma and Grand Hotel des Iles Borromées — so staying at either of these means you’ll be literally steps away from the venue.

💶 Mid-budget & Affordable Hotels

If you prefer a simpler, more budget-conscious stay (while still being close to the lake or town centre), Stresa offers many good value hotels.

- Hotel Milan Speranza Au Lac — central, right on the lakefront, and walking distance from ferries and the center of town.

- Hotel Royal — another option that tends to be more affordable, still reasonably close to the water and town amenities.

🏡 Airbnbs & Vacation Rentals

If you prefer more flexibility, there are a number of Airbnbs and vacation-rental apartments around Stresa and on nearby shores of the lake.

Transportation

✈️ Getting to Stresa

The easiest way to reach us is by flying into Milan. You have a few airport options:

• Milan Malpensa (MXP) – Highly recommended
Malpensa is the closest airport to Stresa. Once you land, the simplest option is to rent a car directly at the airport.
If you book in advance on platforms like kayak.com, you can usually find very cheap rental cars.
The drive to Stresa is straightforward and takes around 45 minutes.

• Milan Linate (LIN)
If you arrive at Linate, simply take a short taxi to Milano Centrale (Milan Central Station) and catch a direct train to Stresa (approx. 50 minutes). Trains run frequently throughout the day.

• Bergamo Orio al Serio (BGY)
Slightly further away, but still manageable. From Bergamo, you can either rent a car or take a bus/train combination to reach Milano Centrale, then continue by train to Stresa.

🚆 Train Travel

From Milano Centrale, you can board a direct regional or high-speed train to Stresa.
The journey is quick (approx. 50–60 minutes), scenic, and drops you right in the center of town, walking distance to most hotels.

🚘 Driving from Milan

If you prefer to drive:

  • Leave Milan heading north toward the A8/A26 motorway.

  • Follow signs for Lago Maggiore / Gravellona Toce.

  • Stresa is clearly marked and easy to reach from the main road.

Parking is widely available in town and at most hotels.

💒 Wedding Day Transportation

To make your day seamless and enjoyable, we will provide dedicated transportation:

🚤 From Stresa to the Church

For guests staying in Stresa, taxi boats will take you directly to the church in Pallanza.

🏰 From the Church to the Venue

After the ceremony, it’s just a 5-minute walk to the wedding reception venue.

🚌 Return to Stresa

At the end of the night, taxis or shuttle buses will take guests back to Stresa.
These will run at regular intervals, allowing everyone to leave whenever they are ready.

Useful information

What is the RSVP deadline?

Please let us know if you’ll be joining us by April 4th, 2025.

We cannot wait to celebrate this unforgettable weekend with you!

What time should I arrive at the religious ceremony?

Please plan to arrive 30 minutes before the religious ceremony begins —you definitely don’t want to miss the bride’s entrance!

Is there a dress code for the church?

Yes — as this is a Russian Orthodox religious ceremony, we kindly ask:

Women: please bring a shawl or wrap to cover your shoulders inside the church.(You may remove it after the ceremony.)

Men: classic formal attire is perfect.Thank you for respecting this tradition.

We love meeting your partners, and we are inviting only spouses and long-term partners. If a plus one was included in your invitation, it will appear on your RSVP.Thank you for understanding!

Are children invited at the wedding?

Will there be a sit-down dinner?

Yes! After the cocktail reception, a seated dinner will be served.

What if I have dietary restrictions or allergies?

Please share any dietary needs when you RSVP so we can ensure your menu is just as perfect as everyone else’s.

How late does the party go?

We’ll be celebrating by the lake until 2:00 AM —come ready to dance the night away!
